Does sugar cause diabetes?

Answer

diabetic_sugar_spoon

If you have diabetes, you should watch your sugar

and carbohydrate intake as a way to manage your blood sugar levels. If you do not have diabetes, sugar intake does not cause diabetes if your intake is in moderation. Unfortunately the average amount of sugar and carbohydrates in foods have grown over the years and moderation requires more involvement and understanding of your diet. The best preventative for those in your family who have not already been diagnosed with diabetes is to eat in moderation while watching the amount of sugars and carbohydrates in the meals. Also eating foods higher in fiber have shown to help span the absorption of carbohydrates reducing spikes in your blood sugar levels for those with and without diabetes.
