What is Gestational Diabetes?

Answer

Gestational Diabetes occurs in about 3 out of every 100 pregnant women who have never had diabetes prior to pregnancy. These women develop high blood sugar during pregnancy, typically only suffering complications minimal to the time frame of pregnancy and the condition usually disappears after the baby is born. They are at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life and a condition to take very seriously.
